We respect your inbox and your information. Here is what we collect, what we do with it, and how we use AI.
What we collect
- Your email address, and your name if you choose to give it, when you sign up.
- Basic email activity from our email platform: deliveries, opens, clicks, unsubscribes, and spam reports.
- Sign-up details, such as the date, the form you used, and who referred you.
- What you send us: replies, story tips, survey or poll answers, and correction reports.
We do not ask for payment details, your address, or sensitive information.
How we use it
- To send you the daily email you asked for
- To understand, in aggregate, which stories readers find useful, so we can make the email better
- To answer your messages and process corrections
We will not quote your reply or tip publicly with your name unless you say we can.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent, or trade your email address or personal information. Not to advertisers, not to sponsors, not to anyone.
- We never add anyone to the list without their permission, and we never buy lists.
- Sponsors, if we ever have them, see only overall numbers, never your information.
Who helps us
Our email platform, our email provider, stores the list and sends email on our behalf under its own privacy terms. Our website may use simple analytics.
Unsubscribing and your choices
- Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom. We honor it right away, and always within 10 business days, as the law requires.
- You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing support@theupbeatdaily.com. We will reply within 30 days.
Email law basics (CAN-SPAM)
Every email we send will have honest "From" and subject lines, a clear way to unsubscribe, and our business name and a valid postal address. Contact us at support@theupbeatdaily.com. Any sponsored content will be clearly labeled.
Children
The Upbeat Daily is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will delete the information.
How we use AI, and who is responsible
- Research and drafting: AI helps us find candidate stories, gather sources, and draft summaries and headlines.
- Images: some illustrations are AI-generated. Each is labeled "AI-generated illustration" and never depicts real people from our stories.
- Standards and responsibility: AI assists with research, drafting, and verification under our written standards, which require at least two independent sources for every story. Our publisher, Tyler Pack, sets these standards, makes the final decisions about what we publish, and holds himself responsible for the content.
- Your data: we do not put your email address or personal details into AI tools.
