Corrections Policy
The Upbeat Daily · Last updated October 15, 2026
Our whole promise is that every story is true. We work hard to get it right: our written standards require at least two independent sources behind each story, and AI assists with research, drafting, and verification under those standards. But people make mistakes, and so do the tools we use. When we get something wrong, we will say so plainly and fix it.
What counts as an error
- A factual mistake: a wrong name, age, title, place, date, number, or quote
- A summary or headline that leaves a misleading impression, even if each word is technically accurate
- A wrong source, broken citation, or link to the wrong article
- An image credited or labeled incorrectly (for example, an AI-generated illustration that is not labeled as one)
- A story that turns out to be false, or one that relied on a source we later learn was not reliable
Typos and small wording fixes that don't change the meaning are fixed quietly in our web archive, without a formal correction.
How to report an error
Reply to any issue or email support@theupbeatdaily.com with:
- The date of the issue and the story
- What you believe is wrong
- A link or source that shows the correct information, if you have one
You don't need to be a subscriber. If you are a person named in a story, or the outlet we cited, please tell us; we will give your message priority.
Our timelines
- Within 1 business day: we confirm we received your report.
- Within 2 business days: we review it against our sources and our verification log.
- If we made a mistake: we correct the web archive the same day we confirm it, and we run a correction in the next daily issue.
- If we don't think it's an error: we will reply and explain why, with our sources.
Serious problems, such as a story that is false or could harm someone's reputation, go to the front of the line and may be addressed in a separate note to readers.
How corrections appear
- In the email: a short "Correction" note near the top of the next issue, saying what we got wrong and what is right.
- In the web archive: the original story is updated, with a dated note at the bottom explaining what changed. We don't silently rewrite stories.
- If a story was false: we remove it from the archive, leave a note saying it was removed and why, and say so in the next issue.
- Public log: once our website launches, every correction will be listed on a public corrections page, newest first.
Removal and takedown requests
If you are named in a story and have a privacy or safety concern, or you are a rights holder concerned about how we used your work, email support@theupbeatdaily.com. We review each request individually and respond within 2 business days.
Learning from mistakes
Our publisher, Tyler Pack, makes the final decision on corrections and holds himself responsible for the content. If a mistake reveals a gap in our checklist, including in how we use AI tools, we change the checklist. Our goal is zero uncorrected errors.
Thank you for helping us keep The Upbeat Daily true.
